Who we are#
Dani Pets is a website where independent pet sitters run their own business and pet parents book them. It is run by Fifth Current (“we”, “us”). Questions about this policy go to privacy@wedostuff.com.
Dani Pets is a tool. The sitters on it are independent people, not our employees. When a sitter looks after your pet, they decide what they do with the details you give them. See the Terms of Use for how that works.
What we collect#
We collect what you type in and what the site needs to run.
For everyone with an account
- Your email address and a password. We never see your password in plain text.
- If you sign in with Google, Google tells us your email address and name.
- A sign-in session, so you stay signed in (see Cookies).
- If you turn on texts: the mobile number you give for them, when you agreed to texts and when you confirmed the number with a code. This is kept apart from any phone on your profile, and only you can see it.
- Your notification settings: email on or off, texts on or off, quiet hours and your time zone.
If you are a pet parent
- Your name, phone number, email address and home address, and whether you would rather hear by email or text.
- Each pet’s name, kind of animal, breed, size, age, energy level, whether they can be reactive or aggressive on a leash, any notes you write, and an optional photo.
- Booking requests: the service, dates and times, which pets, any notes, the price your sitter sets, and the status of the request.
- Repeating schedules: the days, time and pets, the first and last day, the price per visit and billing you and your sitter agree on, any changes either of you proposes, skipped visits, and each billing period’s visit count and total.
- What your sitter records about a visit: when it started and ended, photos and captions, a short report, and a report card (mood, bathroom breaks, water, treats, play, distance).
- If your sitter connects Google Calendar, each booking they confirm also appears on their calendar with the service, your pet’s name and your first name. Your address, phone number and notes are not included.
We do not ask for veterinary records or medication details in a form. If you type them into a notes box, we store them like any other note, so only add what your sitter needs.
If you are a sitter
- Your name, phone number, email address, a short bio and what you call your work.
- Your prices for each service and your weekly hours, plus days off and one-off changes, and the time zone your hours are in.
- Your Venmo username and Zelle phone or email, if you add them, so parents know where to pay you.
- A public handle. If you set one, you get a public page at /dani-pets/p/your-handle.
- The bookings and repeating schedules you take, and the visit photos and reports you add.
Collected automatically
- Our hosting and database providers see technical details when your device connects, such as your IP address and browser type. They keep logs to run and protect the service.
We do not collect payment card numbers or bank details. See “Payments” under How we use it below.
How we use it#
- To make the service work: create your account, show pets and bookings to the right people, and show a sitter’s public page.
- To email you, and text you if you turn texts on, about what is happening: a request was received, a sitter confirmed or declined, a visit started, photos or a report are ready, a booking changed or was cancelled, a repeating schedule was requested, approved, changed or ended, a visit was skipped, a billing period’s total is ready, a payment was marked or is still due, or you have a new message.
- To keep the service safe, fix bugs and stop misuse. When someone becomes a sitter, we get an email with their name, handle and page link, so we can pause a page that shouldn’t be there. The platform admin can read messages between parents and sitters, including text and email replies, to help with support and stop misuse.
- To answer you when you write to us.
- To meet legal duties.
We do not sell your information. We do not use it for advertising. We do not use it to build profiles to sell to anyone else.
Payments
Dani Pets does not take payments. A parent pays their sitter directly, usually through Venmo or Zelle. The site shows the sitter’s handle and may open a link to Venmo. Venmo and Zelle have their own privacy policies, and we never see what happens there.
Google user data#
This section covers information we get from Google. It has two parts: signing in with Google, which anyone can use, and the Google Calendar connection, which only applies if a sitter turns it on.
Sign in with Google
If you choose Continue with Google, Google shares your email address and name with us. We use them to create and sign in to your account. We do not get access to your Gmail, Drive, contacts or calendar through sign-in.
Google Calendar (sitters only, optional)
This applies only when a sitter chooses to connect Google Calendar. If you never connect it, none of this happens.
- Free and busy only. We ask Google for read-only free/busy information. That is the start and end of your busy times. It does not include event titles, descriptions, guests or locations, and we never receive them. We check it when you open your sitter board or tap Sync, for the next six weeks, and keep only those start and end times until the next check or until you disconnect.
- Which account. Google also tells us the email address and account ID of the Google account you connect, so your board can show which account is linked.
- A calendar of its own.We create a separate calendar called “Dani Pets bookings” and put your confirmed bookings on it, showing the service, the pet’s name and the parent’s first name, with a link to your board. When a booking changes or is cancelled, we update or remove its event. We can only touch the calendar we created. We cannot read or change the rest of your events.
- What others see. No event titles from your calendar are shown to anyone. Others see only that a time is taken: start and end times, trimmed to the working hours you set and rounded out to 15 minutes, for up to six weeks ahead. Parents whose booking you have accepted can see this, and so can anyone who visits your public page if you have one. Your own confirmed bookings count as taken in the same way, whether or not you connect Google.
- How we protect it. The access Google gives us to stay connected is encrypted before it is stored, and only our server can decrypt it. The platform admin cannot see your connection.
- Disconnecting. You can disconnect any time from your sitter board. Disconnecting revokes our access with Google, deletes the “Dani Pets bookings” calendar, and deletes the stored connection and the busy times we kept. If Google can’t be reached at that moment, we still delete everything on our side and tell you, so you can remove access in your Google Account settings.
Dani Pets’ use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
In practice, that means we use Google data only to show your availability and to place bookings on your calendar. We do not sell it, use it for advertising, or let people read it except as needed to provide these features, to follow the law, or for security.
Keeping and deleting your data#
We keep your information while your account is open. Booking history stays so you and your sitter can look back at past visits.
To delete your account and the information tied to it, email privacy@wedostuff.com from the address on your account. We will confirm it is you, then delete it. You can also delete a pet yourself in the app.
Some copies can take a while to disappear from backups. We may keep a small amount of information where the law requires it or where we need it to settle a dispute. A sitter may keep their own records of work they did for you. Those are the sitter’s records, and you can ask them about it.
Security#
Pet and visit photos live in private storage. They are shown through links that expire quickly. The database limits each person to the rows they should see. Passwords are stored by Supabase in hashed form.
No website is perfectly secure, and we cannot promise it. Please use a password you do not use anywhere else. If you think your account was used without you, email privacy@wedostuff.com.
Children#
Dani Pets is not for anyone under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you think a child gave us information, email privacy@wedostuff.com and we will delete it.
Your rights#
You can ask us to:
- tell you what we hold about you and give you a copy,
- correct anything wrong,
- delete your information.
You can fix most details yourself in the app. For the rest, email privacy@wedostuff.com. We will not treat you worse for asking.
California residents
Under California law you can ask what personal information we collect, use and share, and ask us to delete or correct it. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context advertising. You may use an agent to make a request for you, and we may ask for proof it is really you. Some other states give similar rights, and we handle those requests the same way.
Changes to this policy#
We may update this policy. When we do, we change the date at the top. If a change is big, we will tell you in the app or by email. Using Dani Pets after a change means you accept it.
